Showing Up

Have you ever had that feeling where you feel uncomfortable about going somewhere, you get that rush of anxiety, fear, thoughts and feelings?

Yep we all have!!

That’s your comfort zone no longer being comfortable.

But when that uncomfortable situation is over, you think… Oh that actually wasn’t too bad, that wasn’t as bad I thought…I’m glad I did it

That can be 100% related to showing up to the gym

It can be those thoughts and feelings when the alarm goes off, it’s raining outside, it’s cold outside, I am so comfortable, I’ll go tomorrow it’s all good.

Then the next day it’s on repeat and it becomes a vicious cycle

Then when you finally fight through the head noise and show up, you walk out thinking ‘that was SO worth it’

So why do we do it? Because we’re humans and naturally the path of least resistance is the easier choice

So how do we break it?

Well you show up once, then you do it again, then again and again and again and again and again and then again

You keep showing up until it’s programmed in that it becomes a habit and you don’t even have to think

Forming that habit is the hardest part, to form that habit takes discipline

So how do we create discipline?

An easy one which sounds super simple is not thinking and just showing up. By not thinking you eliminate any chances of head noises creeping in

Another way is to think of the ‘after’

Have the thoughts in your head how good everything is going to feel after you show up, how amazing your day is going to be.

The more you show up the easier it is to do it

I’ll leave you with this thought

Do the uncomfortable now so you can be comfortable later
